How could anyone possibly understand?

This is a whisper, an urging, a challenge, a cry that I hear often from parents who have lost their child.

When you lose your child, you lose yourself a little bit.

How do I explain?

That every waking moment,

I wish to go back...

Hold him a little longer.

Stay awake later.

Make the most of each second...

We won't ever know,

Why they are taken so soon.

I just want to know...

All of the flashbacks,

They won't ever understand.

I plead that they don't...

I know he is safe,

But I cannot be myself.

The me known is gone...
